Almost Completely Nu

The Nu puns will continue until morale improves. Essentially here is the semi-finalized products. I need to do some cleanup work with the cockpits, add some decals that I need to print to match the Valkyries, and do some final gluing. Otherwise:

Days of the Nu

I have not been able to hobby much due to my entire family coming under the influence of that dark mistress Wii Lego Harry Potter. Now that I can break away, the shuttles are weaponized and primed. Tonight I start painting after a little cleanup work.

Although the shuttles could take up to a week to get done, I'm already thinking about my next 40k project. Here is a preview of one possible idea:

Spaaaaaaaaaaaace Marines!

From my as yet to be re-named chapter (from the Battle of McCragge sprue-yes they are that old):

I have kept the Nabooesque basing scheme to maintain parity with the rest of the chapter. I need to some refit on their thunderhawk then post an ego shot of the entire army.

Here are the rest of the bits from that sprue, force field pylons and (I think) a teleport beacon:

Note that they have a bitchin' ride that I made years ago. Currently it partially diassembled and will be rennovated as soon as I finish up my current projects:

Also note, this is how it arrived after the packers put dumbells in the same box. It has since gotten better.

Operation Double Nu Revealed

Before I'm off to Monterey CA for a week, here is my latest project, brought to a screeching halt.

This is a Nu Class Imperial Shuttle from Star Wars:

This is a Nu Class Imperial Shuttle for 40k (based off of the Lambda Class Shuttle Model)

As you can see, the wings do rotate (and I will be having it able to be mounted for in-game flight using the Valkyrie base):

Primary for use as either a proxied Corvus Lander, Aquilla Shuttle, or properly outfitted a Valkyrie or Vendetta. Still debating how to properly weaponize it. It would also be great for Rogue Trader as a set piece.

What's that you ask? Why is is Operation Double Nu?

Because two shuttles are better than one!

The Making of your Doom/Encompassing Your Doom!

Here is my WIP Doom of Malantai:

A little more work to the head and it will be done. Note that it is on a 40mm base.

The Doom of Malan'tai is complete, as is the latest batch of Ravenors and another base of Rippers. Also in progress is operation Double Nu, and some XAIR Bots. However, they must take a momentary back seat for my July Motivational Challenge which is Troops. For that I will be doing up the squad of marines that came in the Battle For McCragge set. Yes, I am an entire edition behind on painting my marines. Oh, and the Growlers once again get relegated to back seat. :'(

I am pleased with how the sculpting turned out, especially since there aren't many "guide to sculpting giant alien brains" out there (although I bet there is porn that covers it).

Figures for Deathwatch Demo

Here they are in all of their glory:
From left to right Space Wolves, Ultramarines Apothicary, Death Angel with Jump Pack, and Blood Angel with heavy bolter. Some of the parts are a bit unconventional, but I was scraping the bottom of the bitz barrel. Case in point the apothicary's backpack, churgical equipment (to adapt to 40k-speak), and (not seen in the pict) apothicary symbol on the knee are all conversions or scratch-built, the heresy-ear jump pack on the death angel (because I don't have any "modern" jump packs)and Rogue Trader-era power glove. The Space Wolf's hair and fur on the shoulder are green stuff. Not sure if I like how either turned painting-wise but it was good practice if nothing else.

And in a complete coincidence having absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming demo game or anything I just happend to violate my self-imposed ban on buying GW to get a broodlord and have him painted by today. Coincidence. Really.

And this one actually is a leftover project from the last batch I was working on.
